 Downtown Elementary Magnet Academy’s Media Specialist is here to empower students to learn technology and 21st-century skills incorporating collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, and citizenship. The desire for our students is to be prepared to interact with the world around them.

The mission is to provide quality learning experiences designed to equip students with the skills to adapt and thrive in a changing global environment. Students' experiences in the library to extend and enhance the classroom experience and to assist in amplifying the curriculum. I goal is for the library to be a place where students, teachers, and families can explore, learn, create, and collaborate. I want everyone to have the opportunity to innovate and create through imagining, tinkering, playing, and experimenting.I desire to  foster a love of reading and learning in addition to modeling and utilizing current technologies to assist students and teachers in becoming proficient and responsible users of information and new technology."
