A Message from DEMA's Academic Dean
Andretta Albright

My name is Andretta Albright and I am proud to be a member of the Downtown Elementary Magnet School team.  I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education from Huntingdon College and Master's Degree and Educational Specialist Degree in Elementary Education from Troy University at Phenix City.  I have taught kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 5th/6th (Jumpstart).  I transitioned from the classroom into a leadership role as a Reading Coach, District Reading Coach, and then joining Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education. At ADECE, I served in several roles-First Class Pre-K Monitor, Professional Development Specialist, and Region Director.  Most recently, I worked with the Alabama Reading Initiative as a Regional Literacy Specialist.  I believe that relationships are the foundation of success and look forward to fostering strong relationships with the students, families, and staff at DEMA.
